Ruth Slater Art
Ruth Slater is a contemporary fine artist working on the Isle of Bute. Dividing her time between teaching at Rothesay Academy, mother hood and painting she creates exciting and unusual pieces in a range of media.
Living in an area of outstanding natural beauty with an ever changing rural landscape means she is never stuck for inspiration.
Her portfolio is a rich tapestry of island life from seascapes to wild sea birds and she has work in private collections home and abroad.
Her work can be found in Brandish Bute, Picture Bute and the Port Bannatyne Post Office all located on Bute.
Ruth says: 'As you can see from the content of my site, I am inspired by my surroundings here on the Island of Bute. In addition to the landscapes, being surrounded by donkeys, chickens and livestock in the rural location of my home means I'm never stuck for subjects!
'The artists who inspire me are Richard Pearce, Jim Wylie and Lawrence Coulson, each with their own dramatic landscapes.
'I hope that you find something that you love here on my website. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to find out about comissioning some work, or just to find out more about my portfolio.'
